Teachers will usually go above and beyond to maintain a friendly bond between them and their students, and one of the most popular ways is engaging parents in the process. Though it may sound a bit clichéd at first, you will soon realize the benefits of this educational innovation, as your children demonstrate their learning abilities on a daily basis. The main principle of this lies in the understanding of a simple truth: school does not end with your child arriving home. There is always something that should be learnt about a kid’s class, and homework matters, too. Many parents believe they are free from stress because teachers would naturally take care of students once in school. This is, however, not the case, as you still have to memorize stuff at home and assist your kid with various assignments. Of course, it is a complex process. We never know how busy the parents are. They may be running their own business or attending work that sucks all their energy out and leaves them worn out at the end of the day. Engagement should not be something obligatory, but rather a free choice or an option for both parents and students. You can learn from your kids, especially if you don’t have English as your first language.

Teachers at one of Britain’s most famous schools used to give a special assignment to parents and children alike. They would suggest a work in the park in the nighttime, for the sake of observing stars. Many would be surprised, and the rest of the parents were devastated to know their children knew so little about the Universe, comets and constellations. It was a beautiful experience for both generations, which helped form a bond between different age groups. When the participants were invited to talk about their impressions the next day they came to the parents’ evening, teachers were delighted to hear the positive comments about the initiative. It turns out that each and every one of us deserves a place under the sun, and exploring this world together can make a huge difference in the educational process. In this case, it was a cornerstone of geography and astronomy learning, and kids, who studied together with their parents, had better grades in school. So, how does effective communication help us realize the truths of the society around us? It certainly ensures academic progress for kids in high school and college.
